How I Find Fun Stuff in My Area for My Niche
Before I explain how I found the places that embody the things I like, it’s important to explain what I like to do. Some of my favorite things are watching horror movies and playing video games. Finding shops that fit this hobby is not the most difficult, it can be difficult to find smaller events. So what I figured out is that using Instagram can be a major game changer when it comes to events. Generally if you disclose your location, you’ll get a follow back from any event you follow. After that, you can get followed by other events or people associated with those events. Eventually you can collect a variety of local events through Instagram alone.
Meeting people at these events is also a major way in helping you find other events. Through local horror movie events I made a friend who runs a horror magazine. This meant that I got access to a bunch of horror events through him, and by joining his friend group I got even more access. Generally, the more I talk to others and attend events, the more likely I am to get into more events.
How I Picked What I Would Feature on This Website.
Of course finding things I would like to do is only one part of deciding what’s worth going to. I decided that I had to investigate. For this project, I wanted to focus on businesses with at least two of these considerations…
I also wanted to focus on places that I can in-part or fully recommend that I do not see commonly suggested. Everyone knows about visiting places like Mystic or Central Park, but these are obvious locations that I do not believe need to be highlighted here. I also focused on getting a range of both cheap and expensive places to visit, as well as a range of locations from Manhattan, NY all the way to Seymour, CT. So by focusing on these considerations, I was able to cultivate places I would recommend when it comes to traveling sustainably. After an estimated collective of twenty nine hours of walking, eight hours of train travel, and four days spent combing through local areas, I have made my definitive travel guide for both Connecticut and New York City.
